This crazy meal substitutes hot dog buns for -- you guessed it -- butterflied fried chicken breasts!
Directions for: Fried Chicken Hot Dog
Ingredients
Oil, for frying
1 cup flour
3 eggs, beaten
4 cups regular potato chips, half finely pureed, half medium crushed
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast, butterflied
1 large hot dog
large tomato, sliced
1 pickle, cut into 1/4-inch slices
cup white onion, small dice
Relish, ketchup and mustard
Directions
1. Preheat pot of oil to 365F (185C).
2. Set up 3 shallow pans, one with flour, one with eggs, and one with chips. Dredge the chicken breast through the flour, tapping off any excess. Place the chicken breast into the egg, and then into the chip breading. Repeat these steps one more time.
3. Deep-fry the chicken in the oil for 8 minutes. It should be cooked but check that it is 180F with a thermometer. Place on a wire rack. The chicken should have created a hot dog bun shape. Grill or boil the hot dog to your liking.
4. To assemble, add the hot dog into the fried chicken bun. Add the Chicago style toppings, tomato, pickle, onion, relish, ketchup, and mustard. Serve.
